The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is back in Rabat, Morocco, for the second consecutive year, hosting its 2025 BAL Combine from January 10 to 12 at the Ibn Yassine Omnisports Hall. This marks the fourth iteration of the prestigious scouting event, with previous editions held in Brooklyn (2019), Paris (2022), and Rabat (2023).
Featuring over 30 elite players from around the world, the Combine offers athletes a chance to showcase their skills before team executives, coaches, and scouts, all vying for spots in the 2025 BAL season.
Sam Vincent: 2025 Combine Camp Director
NBA Champion and Olympian Sam Vincent has been named the Camp Director for the 2025 BAL Combine. Vincent, renowned for his coaching success across Africa, is the fourth director of this prestigious event, following P.J. Carlesimo, Quin Snyder, and Robert Pack.
Vincent’s African coaching experience includes leading Nigeria’s Men’s and Women’s National Teams and playing a pivotal role in the inaugural Basketball Without Borders Africa Camp. Now a coach at Beacon College in Florida, Vincent’s connection to Morocco is deepened by Moroccan player Hiba Naceri, who recently earned a scholarship to study and play basketball at Beacon College.
The Global Roster of Talent
The 2025 BAL Combine gathers players with backgrounds in the NCAA, NBA G League, NBA Summer League, and various international leagues. Representing 11 countries across four continents, the players bring a diverse blend of experience and talent.
Key Highlights
- NCAA Alumni: 17 participants, including Charles Adebayo (Gordon State), Makhtar Gueye (University of Alabama at Birmingham), and Zahrion Blue (Rider University).
- G League Stars: Devonte Patterson (Iowa Wolves), Taylor Braun (Salt Lake City Stars), and 2024 G League Champion Kong Kong (OKC Blue).
- NBA Summer League Participants: Makhtar Gueye (Senegal) with the Atlanta Hawks and Devonte Patterson with the Dallas Mavericks.
- Local Talent: Morocco’s own Wassim Boutinane joins the Combine in hopes of earning a spot in the next BAL season.
Notably, Tom Digbeu, son of French basketball legend Alain Digbeu, and Luc Arnaud Loubaki, a former France U-20 player, bring additional star power to the Combine.
BAL4HER and Coaches Clinic
As part of the event, the BAL will host a one-day BAL4HER Women’s Camp, featuring 20 U-23 female prospects from local communities, along with a coaches’ clinic for 100 local coaches. These initiatives emphasize BAL’s commitment to basketball development and community engagement in Africa.
