King Crunchers prepare for championship clash vs HD Spikers, eye sweep in Spikers’ Turf Semis

The Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference is heading into its final stretch, with the semifinal round concluding Friday, December 13, at the Philsports Arena. With an unbeaten semifinal record so far, the King Crunchers aim to sustain their dominance as they prepare for Sunday’s much-anticipated championship showdown against the HD Spikers.

As Cignal’s HD Spikers take a strategic breather before the final, Criss Cross, led by coach Tai Bundit, is set to test its strategies against the winless Kondohgumi Hyogo in the 6 p.m. match. Though Criss Cross is heavily favored, coach Bundit is expected to balance player rotation, ensuring top performers like Jude Garcia, Nico Almendras, Gian Glorioso, and Ysay Marasigan remain sharp yet well-rested for Sunday.

Hyogo, despite being out of medal contention after three straight losses, hopes to end its campaign on a positive note. The Japanese squad could capitalize on Criss Cross potentially resting its key players, though Bundit’s trademark “killer instinct” may deny them that chance.

Preview of the Bronze Battle
Before Criss Cross takes the court, DN Steel FEU and Savouge will clash at 4 p.m. Both teams carry identical 1-2 records, making their semifinal encounter a preview of their bronze-medal showdown. The match is expected to be fiercely contested, with both squads seeking momentum heading into their podium battle.

The Championship Stage is Set
All eyes are on Sunday’s championship match between the King Crunchers and the HD Spikers. Both teams have dominated the tournament, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

The King Crunchers not only aim to sweep the five-team semifinals but also carry the confidence of having defeated the HD Spikers in four sets last Sunday. However, Cignal is fueled by a desire for redemption, having rested key players like JP Bugaoan, Mark Calado, and Wendell Miguel in their effortless win against Hyogo last Wednesday. Coach Dexter Clamor’s tactical approach ensures his squad will be fresh and ready for the high-stakes championship bout.

The HD Spikers are chasing a season sweep, while the King Crunchers seek to cement their dominance in the country’s premier men’s volleyball league, organized by Sports Vision and supported by ArenaPlus, Mikasa, and Alpha Insurance & Surety Company.

With both squads in peak form and pride on the line, fans can expect nothing short of a volleyball spectacle this Sunday at the Philsports Arena.
