MILO Philippines Aims to Engage 3 Million Kids in Grassroots Sports by 2025

MILO Philippines is set to ramp up its efforts to encourage active play among Filipino children through its expanding grassroots sports programs. After successfully engaging over two million children during its 60th milestone year in 2024, MILO now aims to inspire three million kids in 2025, providing them with more opportunities to begin their champion journey through sports.

“Every young Filipino has the right to grow and be successful, and sports has a unique power to teach them grit, discipline, and teamwork,” shared Veronica Cruz, SVP and Business Executive Officer of Beverages and Confectionery, Nestlé Philippines. “MILO is finishing its 60th year strong, but we will welcome 2025 stronger. We look forward to nurturing millions more and building a nation of active and healthy champions.”

Addressing a Growing Concern: Sedentary Lifestyles

Active play remains a critical issue among Filipino youth, with 84.6% of children and adolescents falling short of recommended physical activity levels, according to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI). MILO’s grassroots sports programs aim to reverse this trend by offering community and school-based sports initiatives, inspiring young Filipinos to explore their potential and develop vital life skills.

Building a More Active Pilipinas

In 2025, MILO will expand its Active Pilipinas program to reach more families and children nationwide. Key initiatives include:

  • National MILO Marathon: The country’s longest-running marathon will visit 25 cities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
  • MILO Barangay Liga: An inter-community league tournament will expand to 400 barangays in 2025, totaling over 1,200 barangays reached in the past three years.
  • MILO Sports Clinics: With 1,200 clinics covering over 20 sports, children will learn essential skills alongside character-building values.

These efforts are bolstered by partnerships with government bodies, institutions, and sports organizations, ensuring sustained impact on grassroots sports development.

Inclusive Initiatives for a Better Future

MILO continues to champion inclusivity by supporting Indigenous Peoples, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Women in Sports through collaborations with the Philippine Sports Commission. Additional initiatives, such as the MILO Safe Swim program with the Philippine Red Cross and an upcoming inter-school tournament, further solidify its commitment to empowering youth across the country.

Fueling Champions with Balanced Nutrition

MILO recognizes that balanced nutrition is essential for active lifestyles. With a specially designed formula to meet kids’ energy needs, MILO aims to help children engage fully in sports and discover their true potential.
