In a thrilling start to the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, the PLDT High Speed Hitters rallied to a 25-15, 25-17, 22-25, 25-22 win against the Nxled Chameleons at the Philsports Arena. With this win, the High Speed Hitters join the Akari Chargers and Petro Gazz Angels as early leaders in the season-opening competition, which will run until April 2025.

The Nxled Chameleons, who are now led by Italian head coach Ettore Guidetti, showed resilience after losing the first two sets. Led by rising talents Lucille Almonte, Chiara Permentilla, and Krich Macaslang, they claimed a hard-fought third set, 25-22, setting the stage for a competitive fourth set.

However, the PLDT High Speed Hitters, bolstered by the return of Savi Davison, launched an impressive 16-5 run in the fourth set. Davison delivered a standout performance, scoring 19 points and recording nine excellent receptions. Alongside her, Erika Santos, Dell Palomata, and Fiola Ceballos played crucial roles in securing the win.

“Good start pa rin sa amin considering kakabalik lang din ni Savi tapos bagong salang si Angge (Alcantara). Yung performance sayang hindi namin na-straight sets so ‘yun pa ‘yung kailangan namin i-work on siguro,” remarked PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort. The team also saw solid contributions from rookie setter Angge Alcantara, who posted 13 excellent sets and scored three points in her first starting role.
