Thrilling Matches at Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship: Abdilla & Buytrago Triumph

The Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship 2024 continues to deliver high-octane action. Ran Abdilla and James Buytrago of the Philippines scored an exhilarating win against Japan’s Yoshi Hasegawa and Dylan Kurokawa, 22-24, 24-22, 15-9.

Abdilla and Buytrago showed great resilience after a tough first set. They came back strong in the third set to secure their victory.

Buytrago reflected on the match, saying, “We will not simply break down and give up.” He emphasized the importance of continuing to fight despite a frustrating start.

The win gave the Alas Pilipinas pair a 1-1 record in pool play. They will face Thailand’s Netitorn Muneekul and Wachirawit Muadpha in their next match.

On the other hand, Rancel Varga and Lerry Francisco were defeated by Thailand’s Dunwinit Kaewsai and Banlue Nakprakong. They lost 14-21, 19-21 after leading the second set 15-10.

Despite a strong start in the second set, Varga and Francisco were unable to hold onto their lead. The straight-set loss left them with a tough challenge ahead.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher triumphed over Japan’s Nassim Malki and Kosuke Fukushima. The final score was 21-16, 16-21, 15-6, giving the Australians a second consecutive win.

Nicolaidis and Carracher are set to face Abbas Pourasgari and Alireza Aghajanighasab of Iran next. The Iranian duo defeated China’s Song Jinyang and Zhang Tai, 17-21, 21-15, 15-8.

Australia’s Thomas Hodges and Zachery Schubert also earned a solid win. They beat Thailand’s Surin Jongklang and Kittituch Khomkham, 21-17, 21-19.

In another exciting match, Japan’s Takumi Takahashi and Jumpei Ikeda defeated Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Yakolev and Sergey Bogatu. The Japanese duo won in three sets, 25-23, 16-21, 16-14.

The tournament continues to showcase top-tier volleyball talent. Fans can expect more thrilling encounters as the competition heats up.
