La Salle-EcoOil Green Oilers showcased their depth and firepower in a resounding 66-minute victory over Chichi DHTSI Titans, cruising to a 25-18, 25-6, 25-20 win in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference on Sunday, November 3, at Philsports Arena. The Green Oilers’ emphatic performance marked their second straight-set triumph in this season-ending tournament.

La Salle-EcoOil, fresh off a commanding debut against the Martelli Meats Master Butchers, solidified its position as a tournament frontrunner. The team’s overwhelming edge in both skill and roster depth left the Titans struggling to gain any footing, particularly in a lopsided second set where Chichi DHTSI only managed six points.

Unyielding Attack and Precision Execution

La Salle’s versatile lineup was instrumental in the win, allowing head coach Jose Roque to rotate players seamlessly, maintaining an intense offensive pace that kept Chichi DHTSI on the defensive. “Siguro based doon sa first set, sabi ko hindi naman ganun ‘yung laro nila. Bakit hindi nila ipakita. That made them think na dapat ayusin natin,” Roque shared, expressing satisfaction with his team’s execution.

Joshua Magalaman led the charge with 10 points, showcasing seven successful attacks and three blocks. Vince Maglinao contributed eight points in just two sets, while teammates Noel Kampton, Eugene Gloria, and Nathaniel Del Pilar each added six points, underscoring La Salle’s balanced offensive strategy. Eco Adajar orchestrated play with 10 excellent sets and contributed one point.

Titans Struggle Against Aggressive Green Oilers

Despite some resistance in the third set, the Titans were ultimately outclassed by La Salle’s disciplined and aggressive play. Team captain Jonathan Sorio and Christian Alicante both added six points for Chichi DHTSI, but the team struggled to counter La Salle’s momentum and depth across the board.

Coach Roque reflected on the victory, saying, “Happy, though I may say expected. I made sure na naipaintindi ko sa players na whether kaya namin ‘yung team or hindi, we made sure na we give our best.”
