FIBA Asia Cup 2025: Brand unveiling marks milestone in countdown to Jeddah’s prestigious tournament

The FIBA Asia Cup 2025 countdown took a significant step forward with the unveiling of the tournament’s official brand identity on Tuesday, marking a milestone in preparations for Asia’s premier basketball championship. Set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 5 to August 17, 2025, the FIBA Asia Cup promises to be an unforgettable event for basketball fans across the continent.

Held at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee headquarters, the brand reveal ceremony saw prominent attendees, including FIBA Executive Director Asia, Mr. Hagop Khajirian; CEO and Secretary General of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Mr. Abdulaziz Baeshen; and Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, President of the Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF). Together, they celebrated the unique blend of tradition and sport encapsulated in the tournament’s new visual identity.

A Unique Brand Inspired by Saudi Heritage and Basketball Spirit

The visual identity for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage, particularly the Ardah dance—a traditional performance symbolizing unity and strength. The logo artfully merges the fluidity of Ardah with the energy and agility of basketball, symbolizing both the spirit of competition and celebration. This brand identity not only showcases the region’s heritage but also reflects the high-energy dynamism of the tournament and the skill of Asian basketball players.

The logo design is a tribute to both the cultural vibrancy and the excitement of the FIBA Asia Cup, incorporating elements symbolic of the sport, from the basketball court to the players and cheering fans. Key aspects of Ardah dance, such as dancers and drummers, are woven into the design, creating a logo that celebrates both Saudi culture and the global appeal of basketball.

FIBA Executive Director Asia, Mr. Hagop Khajirian, expressed his enthusiasm at the unveiling, stating, “The logo we unveil today initiates a countdown to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, symbolizing the progress of Asian basketball as well as its future promise. Simple yet impactful, this logo embodies the essence of Asian basketball.”

Saudi Arabia Welcomes Asia’s Basketball Family to Jeddah in 2025

Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a unique experience for all visitors in 2025. “Saudi Arabia is eager to welcome the Asian basketball family, offering an exciting blend of tradition and modernity. Our logo reflects this vision, integrating traditional symbols with a lavender hue inspired by Saudi Arabia’s indigenous lavender tree,” Tashkandi said. “We look forward to an event where basketball fans can immerse themselves in both the sport and the culture.”

The journey to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 began in February 2024, with the first of three qualification rounds determining which teams will earn a place in the final tournament. The second qualification window, scheduled for November 21–25, 2024, will play a pivotal role in shaping the tournament field, with teams vying for one of the 16 coveted spots in Jeddah.
