The stage is set for an exhilarating showdown in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference on Friday, October 25, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. The Savouge team aims to take solo control of the elimination round with a potential third consecutive victory as they face off against the formidable Cignal HD Spikers.

Match Schedule

  • 4:00 p.m. – Chichi DHTSI Titans vs. PGJC Navy
  • 6:00 p.m. – Savouge vs. Cignal HD Spikers

Savouge’s Momentum

Following a hard-fought five-set victory over Martelli Meats and a commanding three-set sweep against the VNS Griffins, Savouge enters this match with high spirits and a 2-0 record. The team’s head coach, Sydney Calderon, expresses optimism about their chances against the Cignal HD Spikers, a team that recently dominated their opening match against the winless Chichi DHTSI Titans.

“Nakaka-boost ng confidence namin itong 2-0 start, especially Cignal ang kalaban namin na sunod,” Calderon stated. “We don’t feel any pressure at all kasi we’re all excited to compete against them kasi gusto rin namin matuto sa kanila.”

Cignal HD Spikers: A Tough Challenge

The Cignal HD Spikers, reigning champions of the Open Conference last May, have started their title defense with a strong performance. After securing a decisive three-set win against the Chichi DHTSI Titans, they remain the favorites to halt Savouge’s impressive run. Head coach Dexter Clamor acknowledges the threat posed by Savouge, stating, “Hindi madaling kalaban ang Savouge. Hindi basta-bastang team, ang daming combinations. Kung magiging complacent kami sa lalaruin namin, hindi maganda.”

Key Players to Watch

Savouge’s balanced attack is led by former Cignal standout Giles Torres, along with Lorenz Señoron, Norwel Sanama, and Louis Gamban. In contrast, the Cignal HD Spikers will rely on the skill sets of Jau Umandal and newcomers JM Ronquillo and Joshua Retamar to secure victory.

PGJC Navy is counting on their high-scoring duo, Greg Dolor and Joeven Dela Vega, as well as top setter Louie Pudadera, to lead them in this important matchup.
