Lindh, Morgan, and Antcliff lead with 63s at International Series Thailand

Charlie Lindh from Sweden, along with Australians Jed Morgan and Maverick Antcliff, shot brilliant seven-under-par 63s to seize the first-round lead at the International Series Thailand. The trio took command at the Thai Country Club in Bangkok, leading a competitive field that included Americans Peter Uihlein and Paul Peterson, Chan Shih-chang and Lee Chieh-po from Chinese Taipei, China’s Sampson Zheng, and Canada’s Richard T. Lee, all one stroke behind with 64s.

Lindh’s Strong Start

Lindh, a recent graduate of this year’s Asian Tour Qualifying School, showcased his progress with a flawless round featuring seven birdies. Starting on the back nine, the Swede credited a solid game plan and timely advice from his caddie, Steve. “We had a good plan coming in today, and I had a great start right away,” Lindh said. “Steve made some great calls on our back nine.”

Currently 45th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, Lindh has shown consistency this season with seven cuts made in 12 events. His best result came last month with a 10th place finish at the Yeangder TPC, while a joint 13th place at the International Series England earned him US$28,350.

Morgan Finds His Rhythm

Jed Morgan, competing in his first full season on the Asian Tour, had an impressive run of four consecutive birdies starting at the 13th hole. The 24-year-old has been building on his successful 2022, which included victories in the Australian PGA Championship and the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. “Very happy with the way I putted,” said Morgan. “The back nine especially felt nice, good to see a few putts drop in.”

Uihlein Eyes the Rankings

Peter Uihlein, the winner of the International Series England in August, carded a six-under 64 and remains focused on the International Series Rankings. He is currently third in the standings and seventh on the Asian Tour Order of Merit but acknowledges that catching John Catlin, the runaway leader, will be challenging. “I feel like I could still have a chance if I win this week,” said Uihlein, who shot six birdies without a bogey.

Season Reaches Exciting Climax

The International Series Thailand is the 16th event of the Asian Tour season and part of the 10-tournament International Series. With just five events left, players are not only aiming for individual victories but also targeting the top spot in the International Series Rankings, which guarantees a place in the LIV Golf League.

As the competition heats up in Bangkok, the first-round leaders Lindh, Morgan, and Antcliff have set the stage for an exciting finish at Thai Country Club.
