Get ready to experience a historic moment in Philippine music and sports! The legendary Eraserheads will headline the opening ceremony of the 87th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on September 7. This much-anticipated event will be hosted by the University of the Philippines, promising an unforgettable kick-off to the season.

Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro will reunite once again on stage, bringing their iconic sound to a new generation of fans. Their performance will be the highlight of the day, marking a significant return to their alma mater after being honored with the prestigious Gawad Oblation Award. This award, the highest distinction UP grants to its alumni, was given to the Eraserheads for their remarkable contributions and lasting influence on Filipino culture.

The UAAP Season 87 opening ceremony will not only be a grand homecoming for the Eraserheads but also an opportunity for the larger UAAP community and sports enthusiasts to witness their legendary performance. “We’re thrilled to announce that the Eraserheads will share their magic with the UAAP as we launch Season 87. It’s a fitting time, as they’ve reached the pinnacle of their career, disbanded, reunited, and come full circle. They are true music icons and a source of national pride,” said Bo Perasol, Director of the UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development (UP OASD).

In addition to the Eraserheads, the opening ceremony will feature performances by other renowned artists, all aligned with the theme “Stronger, Better, Together.” Supported by Palawan Pay, Converge ICT Solutions, CDO Foodsphere, and Strong Group Athletics, this event promises to be a spectacle of unity and celebration.

Tickets for the UAAP Season 87 Opening Ceremony and the much-anticipated basketball game between the UP Fighting Maroons and the Ateneo Blue Eagles, set to tip off later in the day, will be available at Ticketnet. Don’t miss this chance to witness history as the Eraserheads take the stage for an unforgettable performance.
