Navy Cadets Dominate ROTC Games 2024 with Multiple Golds in Swimming and Athletics

The Navy cadets surged to the top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) National Championships, held at Cavite State University-Main Campus. By the third day of competition, the Navy had already secured 22 gold medals, driven by outstanding performances in swimming and athletics.

At the De La Salle Aquatic Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Navy swimmers Kirk Dominique Reyes and Kyla Janelle Chua from De La Salle-Taft each claimed five gold medals, leading the Navy’s charge. Reyes, 18, added victories in the men’s 100-meter butterfly (1:02.69) and 50-meter breaststroke (32.38 seconds) to his three previous wins. Chua, also 18, dominated the women’s 50-meter breaststroke (40.30 seconds) and 100-meter butterfly (1:10.20 seconds), contributing to the Navy’s medal haul.

In athletics at the CvSU track oval, Guhan D. Garcia and Geremae Domalanta, both representing the Navy, captured gold in the men’s and women’s 200-meter dash, respectively. Garcia, a 20-year-old from Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation in Pangasinan, narrowly defeated two Air Force cadets to win the race in 21.6 seconds. Domalanta, 19, from the same university, faced stiff competition but crossed the finish line in 26.1 seconds to secure her gold.

The ROTC Games also saw impressive performances in other events. Air Force cadet Romeo Gange Constancio from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos won the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters. The Army cadets, meanwhile, excelled in the arnis competition, with Crystal Jill Bowman and Mark Julius Joring of Cebu Normal University taking gold in their respective categories.

In the inaugural Raiders Competition, West Visayas State University-Lambunao Campus claimed the crown, with their 9-man Air Force crew completing five challenging events in a record 33.53 minutes. Bulacan Agricultural State College and Sibugay Technical Institute Inc. secured second and third places, respectively.

As the ROTC Games 2024 progress, the Navy cadets continue to set the pace, showcasing their prowess across multiple disciplines and solidifying their dominance in this year’s competition.
