The UP Fighting Maroons, the University of the Philippines’ pride in the UAAP, have once again secured crucial backing for their upcoming Season 87 campaign. Januarius Holdings Inc. (JHI) and its subsidiary, STATS Technical Sportswear, are reaffirming their commitment to the UP Men’s Basketball Team (UPMBT), ensuring the team’s continued access to top-tier resources and training opportunities.
Continued Sponsorship and Global Training Camps
JHI and STATS Technical Sportswear have played a pivotal role in the success of the UP Fighting Maroons over the years. For UAAP Season 87, JHI has renewed its sponsorship, guaranteeing that the team will continue to benefit from overseas training camps. These camps, held in countries such as Serbia, South Korea, the United States, and Japan, are essential for the team’s preparation, providing them with valuable experience against international competition.
Since UAAP Season 80, JHI and STATS have also served as the official outfitter for the UP Fighting Maroons, a partnership that will continue this season. Their support extends beyond the basketball court, as they provide the team with the latest performance gear and equipment.
State-of-the-Art Equipment for Peak Performance
As part of the renewed partnership, JHI and STATS will equip the UP Fighting Maroons with cutting-edge Vald performance equipment. This advanced technology will enable the coaching staff to accurately assess the athletes’ progress and make data-driven decisions to enhance their performance. This commitment to innovation ensures that the Fighting Maroons are physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared for the challenges of UAAP Season 87.
“It has been gratifying to see how the players are preparing for Season 87 with their recent training camp in Korea, where they faced the top ball clubs there. We want to keep them battle-ready physically, mentally, and emotionally. That’s why we decided to also provide them with state-of-the-art equipment that will help manage and improve their performance and well-being,” said JHI Chairman and CEO JJ Atencio.
Expanding Support to Other UP Varsity Teams
Beyond the basketball team, JHI and STATS Technical Sportswear are extending their support to other UP varsity teams. At a signing ceremony held at the Executive House in UP Diliman, Atencio announced a partnership with the UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development (OASD) to provide training and official game jerseys for various UP teams.
“First of all, we want to thank JJ for continuing to believe in our basketball program and for supporting the Fighting Maroons all these years. Now, he has even extended his support to other UP varsity teams,” said UP OASD Director Bo Perasol.
A Legacy of Support for the Fighting Maroons
JJ Atencio’s involvement with the UP Fighting Maroons dates back to 2017, when he began supporting the team’s overseas training camps. His unwavering commitment to the team has been instrumental in their growth and success.
“JJ Atencio has long been a believer and a partner of the Fighting Maroons. He’s been supporting the team’s overseas camps since 2017, and we appreciate him very much. He is not just a supporter; he is a treasured friend,” said UPMBT manager Atty. Agaton Uvero.
As the UP Fighting Maroons gear up for UAAP Season 87, the continued support from JHI and STATS Technical Sportswear will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their pursuit of excellence. With a strong foundation of resources, training, and innovative equipment, the Fighting Maroons are poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
