Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is in a different kind of world right now after a series of unsportsmanlike acts that resulted in an indefinite suspension that has since been lifted by the NBA.
But with the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, the name of the 4-time NBA champion has been tossed in the rumor mill as one player who could be shipped soon.
The 33-year-old touched on the topic and gave his take on trade rumors and said that he would just cross the bridge when he gets there on his podcast.
“If that [trade] ever came to fruition, you deal with that, you cross that bridge when you get there,” Green said. “It’s not really something that I worry about … I mean, if you’re 18-22, how can you question anything someone does? We’ve had the opportunity to get out there and play, and prove ourselves as a team.”
New Warriors GM may consider trading Draymond Green
Green has been with the Dubs long enough to know that the team hardly engages in huge trades. But with a new general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., the temperamental player admits that the narrative could change on or before the February 8 trade deadline.
“We’ve never really been an active team at the trade deadline. However, we also have a new GM, and Mike has been incredible. He could be different to Bob [Myers], he could be more aggressive at the trade deadline. I don’t know, I don’t really have a feel for it. Would be I shocked if some trades happen? No – we are 18 and 22, and if I’m not mistaken, with the highest payroll in the league.”
Is it time to break up the Golden State Warriors Big 3?
Green is not the only big star on the Dubs’ side mentioned as possibly being on the trade block. Klay Thompson, another member of the Warriors’ Big 3, has been suggested as another player who may be shipped soon.
Other names suggested include Andrew Wiggins and the unhappy Jonathan Kuminga. These are some names to watch in the next couple of weeks.
With the Warriors toting an 18-22 win-loss card changes could be coming. They have dropped two games in a row as of this writing so it will be interesting if Dunleavy and head coach Steve Kerr will tweak things for the struggling Dubs.
