“Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you. – Deuteronomy 5:1616
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this column. But I feel that this must be written. I speak my mind with one purpose. I want history maker Carlos “Caloy” Yulo to realize that his double gold performance in the Paris Olympics is being dented by his continuous rift with his parents Angelica and Mike and his cold relations with his siblings Joriel, Karl, and Elaiza.
I cannot stomach that a son like Caloy, the newest hero in the Pinoy sporting landscape, continues to shut the door for his parents notably his mother Angelica.
Why Caloy? You have your millions in the bank and properties beyond your imagination. Still, you should treat the past as the past, the right path is to move on and remember that there is no force on earth more powerful than a mother’s love.
Being the eldest, Caloy should be the first to open the line of communication and eat his pride being bloated by the accolades you keep on receiving from the big-money businessman and the government.
If your parents hurt your feelings, then so be it. Remember you also hurt their feelings. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Who am I to judge that your relationship with Chloe must be blamed for this unfortunate scenario that a sporting hero is indirectly telling the youth that it is fine to defy their parents simply because of misunderstanding being feasted by people with the aim of creating content and misinformation.
Cal-loe loveteam must continue as far as I’m concerned. With your achievements, there is no doubt that the Fil-Australian stunner has become an integral part of your magnificent showings on the international stage.
Still, something is lacking. Eat your pride and call your parents. Let bygones be bygones. Then you and all the Filipinos wanting to follow in your footsteps can sleep soundly at night.
Psalm 139:13-16 tells us that while God created us, he did so in our mother’s womb. Mothers are special. They create life and make sacrifices for their children every day. A mother’s love for her own children is unconditional and never-ending.
Getz mo Caloy?
Padel Pilipinas creates Bali history
Padel Pilipinas hinted at big things to come as the national team took second place in the inaugural Asia Pacific Padel Cup (APPC) held in Bali, Indonesia.
The nationals ended the tournament featuring the best Asian Pacific teams with a remarkable 30 wins in 34 matches. Host and powerhouse Indonesia took the gold while India took home silver.
Padel Pilipinas founder and president Pia Cayetano thanked the supporters of the team. The Senator said Padel Pilipinas will come out stronger in the future.
“On behalf of the team, I would like to thank those who showed our faith in our players players. The athletes feel your support. Thank you for pushing us to be the best versions of ourselves. We wanted to be no 1 but we accept that there are lessons to be learned and we learn from the best during hard times.
As I said when we honored the Paris 2024 Paris Olympians in the Senate, it takes a village to support our athletes. You are our village. Thank you for being part of this beautiful journey.”
