Giro d’ Luca returned to Bohol for its 13th edition, bringing together cycling enthusiasts from different parts of the region for a multi-day celebration of fitness, friendship, and active tourism.

Held from May 29 to 31, the annual cycling event once again showcased the scenic beauty of Bohol as participants explored the province’s roads and coastal landscapes through a series of organized rides.

Founded in 2012 by restaurateur and multisport athlete Gianluca Guidicelli, Giro d’ Luca started as a small birthday ride shared with family and friends. Over the years, it has developed into a highly anticipated cycling tradition that attracts riders who share a passion for wellness and outdoor adventure.

Growing cycling tradition

What began as an intimate gathering has steadily evolved into a regional cycling event that welcomes a select number of public participants each year. The annual ride continues to emphasize community building while promoting healthy and active lifestyles.

This year’s participants covered more than 400 kilometers across scenic routes in and around Panglao, taking in some of Bohol’s most picturesque locations. The event provided riders with opportunities to experience the province’s natural attractions while enjoying the camaraderie that has become synonymous with Giro d’ Luca.

Cyclists of varying backgrounds and skill levels joined the ride, reinforcing the event’s inclusive atmosphere and focus on shared experiences rather than competition.

For many participants, the event served as both a personal fitness challenge and a chance to reconnect with fellow cycling enthusiasts in one of the country’s most popular tourism destinations.

Celebrating wellness and community

Guidicelli said the event has always been centered on bringing people together through cycling and wellness.

“For thirteen years, Giro d’ Luca has always been about bringing people together through a shared passion for cycling, wellness, and community,” Guidicelli said.

He added that seeing more riders take part in this year’s edition made the occasion even more meaningful and highlighted the growing appeal of cycling as both a recreational activity and tourism driver.

The annual gathering continues to strengthen its reputation as a platform that encourages healthier lifestyles while promoting local destinations to a broader audience.

Bohol remains key partner

The Bellevue Resort Bohol once again served as the official hotel partner of Giro d’ Luca, continuing a partnership that has lasted for more than a decade.

Throughout the weekend, the resort hosted participants and provided a venue for various activities connected to the event. The celebration culminated with the Sunday Socials gathering, which coincided with Guidicelli’s birthday festivities.

A highlight of the celebration was a special DJ performance by Paolo Guidicelli, adding a festive atmosphere to the closing activities.

As Giro d’ Luca enters its second decade, organizers remain committed to growing the event while preserving its core values of wellness, friendship, and community engagement.

The annual ride continues to demonstrate how cycling can serve as a bridge between people, cultures, and destinations while highlighting the beauty and hospitality that Bohol has to offer.
