Rain or Shine produced a historic performance in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, dismantling Blackwater 151-95 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. The 56-point victory established a new league record for the largest winning margin in PBA history.
The Elasto Painters took control early and never relented, turning the matchup into a one-sided affair from the opening quarter. The win surpassed a decades-old record and further cemented Rain or Shine’s dominant start in the conference.

Andrei Caracut led the opening surge with 18 points in the first quarter alone as Rain or Shine immediately set the tone on both ends of the floor. The team raced to a 42-15 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 75-44 by halftime.
Blackwater struggled to respond to the pace and execution of Rain or Shine, which consistently generated open looks in transition and controlled momentum throughout the first half.
Fastbreak dominance powers record margin
Rain or Shine overwhelmed Blackwater with relentless pace, finishing with 18 three-pointers and a 38-9 advantage in fastbreak points. The Elasto Painters repeatedly turned defensive stops into quick scoring opportunities before Blackwater could set its defense.
Head coach Yeng Guiao credited the transition-heavy approach for the dominant performance, noting that the game plan was designed to exploit mismatches in open-court situations. The execution remained consistent from start to finish.
Blackwater import Robert Upshaw was unable to impose himself inside as Rain or Shine avoided prolonged halfcourt possessions. The defensive pressure and pace forced repeated breakdowns across the floor.
Historic blowout seals statement win
Rain or Shine maintained full control in the second half, rotating multiple contributors who all added to the scoring surge. The team improved to 4-0 in the conference following the record-setting win.
Blackwater absorbed one of the most lopsided defeats in PBA history as the 56-point margin became the new benchmark for the league’s largest winning gap.
