Filinvest Land and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) have officially broken ground on the Iloilo Centrale Football Pitch, marking a significant step in the development of sports infrastructure and community-focused amenities in Iloilo.

Situated at the heart of Iloilo Centrale, the new 9-a-side football pitch forms part of the township’s vision to create an integrated, lifestyle-driven destination that promotes active living and community engagement.

The Iloilo Centrale Football Pitch is expected to support grassroots football development and community sports programs.

The project reflects Filinvest Land’s commitment to honoring Iloilo’s rich football heritage while creating opportunities for future generations of athletes to develop their skills in a modern sporting environment.

“Our goal for Iloilo Centrale has always been to build a township that breathes life into the aspirations of the community,” said Gerard Marcelo, Filinvest Land FVP and Residential Township Head.

Modern sports facility planned

The Iloilo Centrale Football Pitch is designed to support grassroots football programs, youth competitions, and local leagues through a facility built to modern standards.

Located within the township’s 1.6-hectare commercial district, the pitch will serve as an accessible recreational hub for residents and visitors alike.

The facility will feature artificial turf engineered for all-weather play, providing athletes with a durable and consistent playing surface throughout the year.

Additional amenities include spectator bleachers and night lighting systems that will allow matches, training sessions, and community activities to continue beyond daylight hours.

The sports facility will complement the township’s open green spaces and reinforce Iloilo Centrale’s vision of integrating recreation, wellness, and urban living within a master-planned environment.

“Iloilo is an undisputed football country; the passion for the sport is woven deeply into our culture,” said Louie Carandang, Filinvest Land Visayas Vice President and Visayas Regional General Manager.

“With this football pitch, we aren’t just laying down turf—we are establishing a sanctuary where local talent can be discovered, honed, and elevated,” he added.

Partnership supports development

The partnership with the Philippine Football Federation ensures that the facility will meet standards necessary for player development, organized competitions, and training programs.

PFF President Johnny Gutierrez emphasized the importance of quality infrastructure in helping expand football development opportunities across the country.

“True grassroots football development relies heavily on accessibility and quality infrastructure,” Gutierrez said.

“By bringing a dedicated football pitch to the center of Iloilo Centrale, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that the future generation of football players has the right environment to foster their discipline and love for the game,” he added.

The football pitch also serves as a key component in the broader development of the 11.4-hectare Iloilo Centrale township, which includes Futura Rise, a low-density residential condominium community designed around wellness and accessibility.

As construction moves forward, Filinvest Land envisions the football facility becoming a centerpiece for sports, recreation, and community activities while helping strengthen Iloilo’s long-standing connection to the sport.
