The official rosters of the 16 teams taking part in the FIBA U16 Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar has been confirmed on the eve of the event.
For the Philippines, the final lineup is composed of Kiefer Louie Alas, Elijah Mark Williams, Noah Banal, Paul Diao, Joaquin Ludovice, Kurt Velasaquez, Samuel Alegre, Cletz Amos, Edryn Morales, Irush Chua, Bonn Doja and Jaime Lorenzo Gomez De Liano.
The Filipinos will be coached by Josh Reyes. He will be assisted by Joseph Ricardo and Allan Albano.
The tournament will be played in Qatar for the second consecutive edition after also playing in Doha in 2022.
Australia won the previous two editions of the competition and have yet to lose a game. Should they win a third straight title in Doha, they will match China for the most U16 Asian Championship titles won.
Korea is the only other team that has previously won the competition. Also, the Philippines and Japan are the other two teams to have made it to the Final in the past.
The kicks off on September 17 with defending champion Australia taking on India in Group A at the Al Ghafara Sports Club Multi-Purpose Hall. New Zealand and Korea will also meet in Group C at the Al Rayyan Indoor Hall. Both games are scheduled to start at 11:30 local time (GMT +3).
The top four teams of each group at the end of the Group Phase will qualify directly for the Quarter-Finals. The second and third-place teams will play in the Qualification to the Quarter-Finals Round with teams in Group A playing against teams in Group B while teams in Group C play against teams in Group D.
The teams that advance to the semifinals will also qualify for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 that will be held in Turkiye from 29 June to 7 July next year.
