Keshad Johnson of the Miami Heat emerged as the winner of the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest, topping San Antonio rookie Carter Bryant in a thrilling final round. Johnson’s finishing dunk, a one-handed windmill launched from behind the judges’ table, sealed the victory.

Bryant opened the final round with a spectacular between-the-legs dunk, earning perfect 50.0 scores from all five judges. But his second attempt faltered, missing twice before successfully completing a less flashy dunk on his third try. Johnson’s consistent performance ultimately earned him the title.

Johnson’s final dunk showcased creativity and flair as he took off from the free throw line and completed a clean windmill, earning the championship trophy from Hall of Famer Julius Erving and shaking hands with all the judges.

Heat rookie brings energy and showmanship

Throughout the contest, Johnson entertained the crowd with his personality and style. He danced onto the court at the start and celebrated with flair after claiming the title, bringing energy to every dunk. In the first round, he leapt over rapper E-40’s bowed head to complete a left-hand slam while keeping his other hand behind his head.

The four-man field included Jaxson Hayes of the Lakers and Jase Richardson of Orlando, who did not advance to the final. Three-time dunk winner Mac McClung of the Chicago Bulls did not participate this year, having previously achieved perfect scores on every dunk last year in San Francisco.

Judging the contest were Hall of Famers Julius Erving and Dominique Wilkins, along with Dwight Howard, Corey Maggette, and Brent Barry. Vince Carter also provided guidance to Bryant during the competition.
