The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is making history with its first-ever event in Spain, as PFL Madrid comes to the Palacio Vistalegre on Friday, March 20, 2026. The card is headlined by PFL Middleweight World Champion Costello “The Spaniard” van Steenis defending his title against 2025 PFL Middleweight World Tournament Champion Fabian “The Assassin” Edwards.
Fans can secure pre-sale tickets immediately, while general sales open Monday, December 15 at 12pm CET via pfl.info/madrid. This historic matchup promises to deliver elite MMA action on Spanish soil for the first time.

Van Steenis aims to defend title on home turf
Representing Spain, van Steenis will look to defend the PFL Middleweight World Title in front of a home crowd. He captured the belt in July at PFL Cape Town with a dramatic submission of previously undefeated champion Johnny Eblen in the final 10 seconds of round five. Van Steenis previously faced Fabian Edwards in 2020, winning a close split decision, giving him confidence heading into the rematch.
“This is a dream come true, fighting in Madrid as a world champion,” van Steenis said. “I know Fabian is dangerous, but I’m ready to defend my title and make history in front of my fans.”
Edwards riding momentum into Madrid
Fabian Edwards enters Madrid after a dominant 2025 campaign, culminating in a PFL Middleweight World Tournament victory. His final win featured a head kick knockout over Dalton Rosta to clinch the title. Edwards aims to capture the world title in Spain, fully aware of the challenge van Steenis presents.
“We’re bringing top-tier MMA to Spain for the first time,” PFL CEO John Martin said. “Both van Steenis and Edwards are coming off career-defining victories. The stage is set for an unforgettable night of action.”
