Red Lions Unleash Fury: San Beda Crushes Stags in NCAA 102

Reigning champion San Beda answered a heartbreaking one-point loss with a 30-point beatdown, routing San Sebastian, 85-55, in the NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball tournament in San Juan on Friday, Oct. 2. The Red Lions are back in the winning column.

San Beda had dropped a 55-54 decision to the Mapua Cardinals in its previous outing. The Red Lions improved to 3-2, while the Golden Stags remain winless through five games.

San Beda Red Lions Erupt in Third Quarter to Break Game Open

San Beda led just 41-36 at halftime before turning the game around with a 21-point third quarter. The Red Lions took a 62-48 lead into the final frame, with San Sebastian scoring only 12 points in the period.

The Golden Stags managed just seven points in the fourth quarter as San Beda closed out the 30-point win. Assistant coach Andre Santos said, “It’s nice to get our groove back,” and called the win a step toward an upward trajectory.

Sean Torculas Leads Balanced Attack as San Sebastian Stays Winless

Sean Aldous Torculas topped San Beda with 18 points, while Jimuel Reyes added nine. Jomel Puno, John Bonzalida and Dan Marcelo each chipped in eight points, giving the Red Lions a balanced scoring effort.

Caesleyh Bacani paced San Sebastian with 15 points, and Nurben Muktimar added 11 in a losing effort. The Golden Stags, also known as Baste, are still winless after five games.

San Beda will look to build on that momentum in its next games. San Sebastian, meanwhile, continues to search for its first win in NCAA Season 102.
