Barangay Ginebra San Miguel wasted no time in dispatching Terrafirma Dyip, 108-77, Friday night, December 12, in the PBA Philippine Cup. The Kings surged to a 15-4 start highlighted by Japeth Aguilar’s consecutive alley-oop dunks, building a lead that Terrafirma never threatened.

The loss left Terrafirma at 1-9 and extended their losing streak to eight games. Meanwhile, Ginebra claimed their third consecutive victory and fifth in nine outings, improving their playoff prospects while preparing for a 10-hour flight to Bahrain on Saturday.

Ginebra gears up for Bahrain games

Ginebra will join Rain or Shine and Magnolia for back-to-back PBA games at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Bahrain. Rain or Shine faces Magnolia on Dec. 15, followed by Ginebra taking on Rain or Shine on Dec. 17. Coach Tim Cone emphasized the significance of the schedule, urging the team to build momentum for the playoff push.

Cone highlighted the “magnitude” of the games, balancing player health with performance. Troy Rosario exited after a collision with Scottie Thompson, playing just under 20 minutes despite a minor ankle strain. Aguilar and Thompson also had limited minutes, ensuring Ginebra remained fresh for the Bahrain trip.

Key performances propel Ginebra

Jayson David led the Kings with 16 points, benefiting from extended minutes, while five teammates finished in double figures. Aguilar contributed 12 points in just over 16 minutes, and Troy Rosario added 11 in less than 20 minutes of action. The team closed the fourth quarter with an 86-52 scoring spread, asserting full control of the game.
