Capital1 is looking to make bold moves with hopes of sparking a turnaround when it selects the top overall pick in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft on Sunday, June 8, at the Novotel Hotel in Cubao, Quezon City.

Following a 7-24 record across three conferences, the Solar Spikers are banking on fresh talent to reset their franchise trajectory.

With the first pick, Capital1 is widely expected to take three-time UAAP MVP Bella Belen, whose all-around game and championship experience make her the consensus top prospect. A deep rookie pool features talents from the UAAP, NCAA, provincial leagues, and overseas—marking a pivotal year in the PVL’s evolution.

Belen headlines strong draft class

Now under Brazilian Olympic coach Jorge de Brito, Capital1 is reshaping its squad with a strategic approach. Former head coach-turned-consultant Roger Gorayeb emphasized the importance of getting the “right player,” highlighting Belen’s versatility and leadership as key traits.

Fifty-seven athletes entered the draft, ten more than the league’s inaugural edition, underscoring the PVL’s rising reputation. During the two-day Draft Combine, players were evaluated across biometrics, skills, and scrimmages, helping teams assess who best fits their long-term plans.

Other teams look to reload with emerging stars

Galeries Tower picks second, followed by Farm Fresh and Nxled in the top four. The remaining teams—ZUS Coffee, Cignal, Choco Mucho, Chery Tiggo, PLDT, Akari, Petro Gazz, and Creamline—will fill out the rest of the first round.

Among the notable prospects are AC Miner, Tia Andaya, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Alleiah Malaluan, and Mycah Go, with several others adding to the depth of the 2025 class. With the draft set to reshape rosters across the league, all eyes are on Capital1 and whether their top pick becomes the franchise cornerstone they’ve long sought.
