The Cignal HD Spikers displayed their dominance, closing their elimination campaign with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 victory over the PGJC Navy Sealions on Friday, November 29, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The win, their seventh consecutive, cemented Cignal as the top seed heading into the semifinals with an impressive 8-1 record. Meanwhile, Navy’s semifinal hopes dimmed as they finished the elimination round with a 5-4 slate.

The reigning Open Conference champions rebounded from an October 25 loss to the Savouge Spin Doctors and went on to defeat strong contenders like the Criss Cross King Crunchers and DN Steel FEU Ultras.

“We emphasized maintaining high morale and momentum heading into the semifinals,” said Cignal coach Dexter Clamor. “This streak is important, but we’re starting from zero in the next phase.”

Cignal will face Criss Cross and DN Steel FEU in the round-robin semifinals. Navy’s semis hopes hinge on results from later matches, including Savouge’s clash against the Spin Doctors. A guest team is also expected to spice up the semifinals.

Despite Navy’s effort, Cignal’s depth overwhelmed them, with second-stringers securing the sweep in just 84 minutes. Mark Calado shined with 11 points in two sets, while Lloyd Josafat added 10 points through spikes, blocks, and aces.

Joeven dela Vega led Navy with 10 points, supported by Greg Dolor and Nilo Jasmin, who scored nine and seven points, respectively.
